❝ What an exquisite time together [at the Coffee & Connect - 100 Years of Malcolm X event]! May Allah reward all the sisters who planned and delivered such an excellent, beautiful and memorable event for all those who appreciate Brother Malcolm, Allah Yarhamu.

❝ Alhamdulillah, I had the opportunity to attend 100 Years of Malcolm X hosted by [the Sakina Literary Society of the Arts] and I am so grateful to have been a part of the event. Words alone cannot describe how much I took away from the event and truly be able to describe the impact of it all. Everything from the ambience, to the magnificent sisters in attendance, to the food and deep conversations were wonderful.
I was able to meet amazing sisters who shared similar values and enlightened me with their great insights and intellect. The intense love everyone felt towards our beloved brother Malcolm made our hearts connect. We may have been sisters estranged by this dunya when we first came to the event but we walked away bonded by faith. How could we not share this bond as Malcolm's legacy reminds us of the significance of sisterhood/brotherhood. As the evening unfolded, I found myself in awe absorbing all that was shared. At times my soul ravished in the sweetness of the gathering itself. I looked around the space and smiled as I saw the true essence of Islam's sisterhood reflected by everyone present in that room. Our differences did not divide us, rather our differences were welcomed and embraced. Not something one witnesses or experiences although we all wish for it to be true. There is no doubt in my heart that anyone who attended this event benefited from it in some shape or form. May Allah s.w.t. reward all those involved in making this event happen and grant them the ability to carry forward the work they are doing for the Muslim community. Looking forwarding to more events like this in the future inshaAllah. |
